Located in College Point, Queens on a 35-acre site, the New York City Police Academy will include multiple low- to mid-rise structures within a campus setting, which are programmatically linked by interior circulation paths and atria, outdoor pavilions, and elevated ramps and bridges with sliding connections and expansion joints. The highly specialized program requirements of the project demand numerous specialized buildings, each with unique structural demands. Ultimately, this will include facilities for academic and administrative buildings, a tactical village, a field house, an assembly hall, a museum, and additional indoor and outdoor training areas. The campus is the largest public building in New York to achieve LEED Gold certification.
