The Anchor Point Residence was planned for the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska along Cook Inlet across from the Chigmit Mountains. The house was designed as a rectangular volume cantilevered out from the bluff using a series of parallel exposed concrete foundation walls. The concrete walls act as deep cantilever beams anchored to strip footings and 70ft long battered piles in the bluff. The structure of the main house volume consists of a grid of steel braced frames with concrete on metal deck floor plates. Transverse steel braced frames extend back to the bluff and connect to the ends of the concrete walls to provide stability perpendicular to the main concrete fin walls.
